Risk and Compliance Officer (Healthcare)
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and proactive Risk and Compliance
Officer with at least five years of specialized experience in the healthcare sector.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our organization operates within
the highest standards of legal, regulatory, and ethical frameworks. You will lead
the identification, assessment, and mitigation of operational and clinical risks,
ensuring the safety of our patients, staff, and organizational reputation.
The ideal candidate will have an expert understanding of healthcare regulations
(e.g., CQC, HIPAA, GDPR, or local equivalents) and a proven track record of
implementing robust compliance programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Regulatory Oversight: Monitor and ensure full compliance with all local,
state, and federal healthcare laws and accrediting body standards.
• Risk Assessment: Conduct regular internal audits and risk assessments to
identify potential vulnerabilities in clinical and administrative processes.
• Policy Development: Design, implement, and update comprehensive
internal policies and procedures to minimize risk and improve service
delivery.
• Incident Management: Lead investigations into compliance breaches,
clinical incidents, or grievances; develop corrective action plans to prevent
recurrence.
• Data Privacy: Serve as a key lead for data protection (GDPR/HIPAA),
ensuring patient records and sensitive information are handled with
maximum security.
• Staff Training: Develop and deliver mandatory compliance training for all
healthcare staff, focusing on safeguarding, ethics, and health and safety.
• Reporting: Prepare detailed risk registers and compliance reports for
executive leadership and board members.
Required Experience & Skills
• Healthcare Expertise: Minimum 5 years of experience specifically in
healthcare risk management or compliance.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with healthcare quality standards
(CQC Fundamental Standards, JCI, or ISO 9001 in a medical context).
• Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex data sets to identify
trends, outliers, and areas of operational risk.
• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with
the ability to influence staff at all levels and handle sensitive investigations
with discretion.
• Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to identifying issues before they
escalate into compliance failures.
Requirements & Qualifications
Must-Have Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Law, Business,
or a related field.
• Certification: Professional certification in Healthcare Compliance (e.g.,
CHC) or Risk Management (e.g., CPHRM) is highly preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced experience with Risk Management
Software and CRM/Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Ethics: A steadfast commitment to ethical practice and patient-centered
care.
